I stupidly volunteered to do the match report i cant remember much of the game.
Derby 44 - Ilkeston 5
Derby started the game not really knowing how the game was going to go with a new look side with an average age of around 21. But it became clear almost from the start that derby were the better team and all they needed to do was to move the ball to keep the bigger ilkeston pack at bay. Some good pressure in the Ilkeston 22 failed to bring points in the first 10 minutes. Then a break through came courtesy of a superb looping bounce pass helped on by the ilkeston full back to move the ball wide and somebody went over the white wash for a rather scrappy try. After this the derby side settled and began to move the ball well with different people scoring a variety of tries. I think tizard may of got one? then after an awesome break through the middle by mickey and good hands by the rest of the backs to put freaky legs in the corner, Monkey scored again but cant remeber how. In the second half things continued to go well Jason kennedy scored twice to double his career tally. My outstanding memory of the 2nd half was moi smashing the ilkeston winger and Alec having replaced monkey and pulled the most outrageous dummy ever but lacked the nessercary gas to hit the gap. Ackers again didnt manage 80 minutes but for once this was because of subsitutions rather than a yellow card. I can't remeber much else but mentions should go to Captain Paul McCartin for tremendous leadership, Mickey played well when he moved the ball. Callum Martin destroyed the Ilkeston prop at the scrum but everyone played well with no one letting the side down. Sorry for the shocking report!

finally in my proper place!

I reckon C5W can't be clerk to the court on tour he will never have time to record any events because of the varied activities he will be up to!

For example Pony Trekking, Hill Walking, Archery @ Basket weaving.

Good effort Charlie, you were slightly drunk when volunteering to write the report. Obviously very drunk when playing the game. You must be the stand out choice to do the Colts "Tour Diary".

Anyone got a video/cd cam???? to validate C5Ws flights of fancy?

Refereeeeee

Were you drunk when you wrote it?

Ah but can you rally the troops, ignite fire into the coldest of hearts, turn me from placid southern fairy into a feirce northern monkey like Mabbs does pre match?

I think not.

Good match report though mate, Never had the nuts (nor the time) to do it myself. Bravo.

Very good C5!
Your new-found writing skills will come in handy at Hallam in September, although I think your spelling is probably a bit advanced for the Poly.
Keep working on the guns though.
