I have been led to believe there is a bus trip next week for the Cheltenham game..
Theme for the day is 70's Tennis stars, so dig out theose tight shirts and shorts, dust off the Donnay racket, and don the dunlops!
Drink for the week is Banana Bread Beer

70's tennis stars was awesome, the look on the staffs and shoppers faces in sainsbury's Cheltenham was priceless

As a point of order, i attach an excerpt from a website on racket history
"Jimmy Connors used a Wilson T2000 all steel racket to devastating effect in a Wimbledon final against Ken Rosewall (using a wooden racket).
This suddenly brought racket technology into the forefront and a number of developments started taking place. The steel construction enabled consistency of playing characteristics . Interestingly , at the same time , Bjorn Borg was developing with Donnay a racket that was wood based but reinforced with modern materials to provide extra stiffness. He used to string his racket at 70 lbs plus ! ... In contrast John McEnroe would string his at 45 lbs"
Connors beat Rosewall in 1974, leading me to the conclusion that Donnay WERE around in the 70's.... I'll take a pint of frothing beer from you |

... and another thing - I don't think Donnay existed in the 70s. Dunlop Maxpli Forte - that was the raquet to own (only just dispensed with mine recently - quality!!) |

You are indeed correct Norm. We've booked a cosy 24-seater for you boys, so make sure you fill it! (Is there room for all your fans and roadies I wonder!!)
Coach needs to leave Cheltenham at 6.30, so make sure your lads take plenty of bottles of your 'drink of the week' to quaff on the M5 / M42 back home.
I think Cheltenham also beat Walsall by a big margin, so expect a tight contest. |
