Posted - 16 January 2007 : 20:13:17 I expect a good turn out for training this week, which will be at the club, where we have the whole area (well all the bits not under water) to ourselves. Players who did not play last week need to be there if they want to challenge the player who took your place!!
Let's have most of you stopping for food afterwards too please. |

Posted - 26 January 2007 : 12:50:02 are you sure or is it another wind-up. Poor colin had to put up with 14ish of us by himself. with sean Burke(forgive my spellling) encouraging certain participants to mess around.
If in doubt..... give it the forwards. BOSH!! |

Posted - 22 January 2007 : 16:25:20 Damn If a Meister had shouted over "that big ugly mute Glover is on the wrong side stamp on him" I would have rushed over from the other pitch and "Jimmy Smithed or Normed" you! (Jimmy Smith did a great Shahid Afridi on Sat but on an opposition player rather than the cricket square) shame I couldn't have a cameo for the Meisters - suppose thats what the Devs thought given my sub standard offering Sat.
Finbar - Would you like salad with your badger?

Posted - 22 January 2007 : 12:15:47 We did for a couple of minutes at a time for each of the tries we socored but the rest of the match we couldn't get the ball off the opposition (im not going to blame anyone for that like the Meisters holding on for too long, obviously the ref didn't see those incidents which occured frequently). At the same time i don't want to take anything off the Meisters victory because they played well and showed us how to win a match.
P.s. thanks to the Meisters who didn't use the boot when i fell on the wrong side of the ruck, i know macca would have paid for that chance and lots of money as well. |

Posted - 22 January 2007 : 11:15:10 Thanks for that Macca, I must admit I didn't see much of the kicking coach on saturday, he must have been looking for the dummies guide to kicking!!
Macca, do have any badges???
Glover, always play your own game and that way you can control how the game flows.
9 - thats where its at!!! 10 - not bad either!! |

Posted - 22 January 2007 : 11:09:01 Yes i do agree Finbar. we didnt play colts rugby, we let the Meisters play their game, which obviously was always going to be forwards forwards and more forwards and then kick to give the teritory. well done to the Meisters it was a good match.
If in doubt..... give it the forwards. BOSH!! |

Posted - 22 January 2007 : 09:25:15 Exactly Finbar! - Colts have obviously spent too much time working with a dodgy kicking coach ....I blame Tiz!

Posted - 21 January 2007 : 22:57:04 The kicking yesterday wasn't too bad. If anything you didn't use your biggest advantage - speed. Quick hands spreading the defense running at pace would have done the trick. not to mention straighter lines of running. The 4ths pack was not as mobile as yours, so by moving the left and right you would have made more gaps. Kicking is only one option and in my eyes the last as its giving the ball away. possession is the only way to score tries.
Your plan of attack should have been two up with the forwards then a move to the outside centre - m1 or dsp then the same again but then pass it out in the other direction.
You only kick the ball when you know you are going to get it back or there is no other option left to you.
9 - thats where its at!!! 10 - not bad either!! |

Posted - 21 January 2007 : 22:02:19 yes colin is correct. our kickers have missed kicks from in front of the posts before.
i think we should try other options at kicking like the forwards you we havn't been treid or tested yet.
let the forwards kick, we'll do better than the backs. |

Posted - 21 January 2007 : 18:56:27 I can assure you there has been no kicking guru in the Colts for the last two seasons! We are the world's worst kickers - bar none! (actually Britto is not too bad I suppose!) |
