Guess whose back, back again.
The Beests are back, tell a friend!!

Wildebeests 56 – 0 Market Bosworth

The opening game of the season proved to be a hot one, both on and off the pitch!! A new look side included some old heads from last seasons campaign and a few new boys. And it didn’t take long for us to gel.

The first ten minutes were pretty quiet with both sides trying to put their mark on the game. Up front it looked evenly matched with Bosworth matching the Beests pack in open play. The Beests got the upper hand by dominating the set piece. Debutants Kemsley, McMaster, Rankin and West showed exactly why they deserved a starting position. The deadlock was broken after some good forward play. Hutchinson called the shots and allowed Normski through a gap to release Reaper into the corner. The Jackal added the extra two for a seven-point lead. Further attacks followed from the restart but Bosworth were defiant in defence. After failing to break the line again, Dan ‘the man’ Hutchinson coolly slotted a drop goal to extend the lead to ten.

Bosworth rallied round to get back into the game. Some promising work from their forwards took them into the Beests twenty-two. Excellent defence on the fringes and the big hitting Teager stopped any further inroads to the Beest line. Next on the score sheet was the Seru, cutting a great line to finish off a clinical piece of play. Jackal added another two. Bosworth struggled to cope as the Beests went up through the gears. After another infringement, the Jackal added three more to the total. The half ended at a FRANTIC pace with some CHAMPAGNE moments. Normski crossed the line in true Beest style by stampeding over the defence from short range. His second was a forty-metre scamper after rounding his opposite man. The Jackal converted both to make it 34-0 at half time.

After a bit of squad rotation, the second half followed in much the same suit. Odell and Wilcox led the Beest charge in the tight. Reaper added to his try tally as he glided over like a TERADACTIL. The Jackal off target on this occasion. Cox worked tirelessly to link the forwards and backs, showing real ’Spirito de Punto’ and the Beest heart. Reaper completed his hat trick from close range after another excellent scrummage. Again the Jackal missing. Two tries completed the scoring with the Jackal and the Buss going over from close range. Both tries were converted to finish the game.

A scorching performance on a scorching day!! As Shrek once said, the Beests are like ONIONS and Ogres, we have many layers to our game.

Good luck to the Beests on Saturday, marauding all over Matlock and grazing on their plain! Keep up the all-entertainment rugby, score some tries and make some smash.com!
Look forward to reading the match report,
love with a faint mmuurrrgghhh

Arch, you are facing the opposite direction but still probably running as fast as norm!

Ah, looking at that picture takes me back...Norm getting tackled and not offloading....(only joking Norm). This is turning into flagrant abuse!

A sheepish muurrrggghh

I stand corrected Mr Collier, but surely that should read whinging at the ref about everything WHILST wearing a chav cap...

I'm liking the last one ....oh the indignity when your arm goes up, but you need to whistle at the same time... you missed some of your other 8 skills...like whinging at the ref about everything, and wearing a chav cap

Good to see the Buss return to the rightful smash post of back row, I will pass on the way of the Beest 8 - 1) Develop some outrageous ball skills, especially off the base of the scrum, 2) Do your very best to commit yourself to as few rucks and mauls as possible, 3) Offer options to the 13 and wing on 2nd phase ball. 4) Celebrate tries in an innovative way, best designed to wind up the opposition!

I've developed a through the legs bounce pass switch, which is lighting up the Yorkshire Dales at the moment - next step is to develop it into a dummy where you bounce it through your legs and catch it yourself - only a matter of time...

Also, when scoring a breakaway try, put the ball down under the posts and then award yourself a try like a ref would - the arrogance!

This season, I think I might be fined a lot...

I'm lovin' MUUUUURRRRGGGGHHHH

Arch, hows the beesting going in the wilds of Yorkshire. it didn't take long for the Buss to fill your boots in the 8 slot. Still working with him on the tricks and T-R-Y celebrations!!

Let the stampede continue long into next summer...

Put him in the locker!!! BOSH!

Boys,
awesome result for the Beests, sure it'd have been more if allowed to play on the big boys' pitch! Still had to be on match duty on Saturday so unfortunately couldn't make a guest cameo watering hole-side at the Haslams Serengeti, much to my displeasure - PB missing those kicks obviously down to poor tee caddying!
Keep on racking up those T-R-Y's,
much love,
Arch

P.S. There was an article on Wildebeests in Saturday's Guardian - evidently we're better known as 'Gnus' and roam the Savanna! There was an awesome picture of a stampede as well, about to kill what I can only assume was a Market Bosworth zebra. Just a bit of background...

I spotted it wasn't your report Norm. I know you would not have mis-spelt Pterodactyl!! (Teachers eh!)

Surely I haven't fooled you into thinking that was my match report? The Jackal has taken over the mantel of Chief Scribe for the Beests, and is now responsible for blowing our games out of proportion... Indoctrination is alive and kicking
