Beests limp to another victory in an indifferent display, 3-50 over Matlock 2nds. The ref however had the score down as 3 - 35, but after calculation and contemplation, it was worked out as above. 6 tries, 5 conversions and a penalty = 43
The Jackals match report to follow

Heres the report, but a tries gone missing. So if you see one please return it to the Wildebeests. Thanks

What’s the story? Wildebeest Glory

Wildebeests 43 –3 Matlock

Week two saw the Beests leave the fortress and venture into the beautiful countryside to entertain the locals of Matlock. Hopes were high after last week’s performance but the weather made conditions interesting

The early clashes saw both teams make basic mistakes in the conditions. The Beests applied pressure to the Matlock line but failed to cross due to a strong defence and some dubious refereeing decisions. Some quick ball allowed the backs to move wide and Gandolfo turned on the gas to round his winger to score in the corner. The Jackal added the conversion. Unfortunately the rest of the half didn’t follow the same PROTOCOL. Matlock got back into the game and proved they were up for a game. A high penalty count allowed Matlock to venture in the twenty-two. Strong defence prevented any tries but Matlock got on the board with a drop goal. This hurt the Beests like a SKEWER in the eye. This seemed to wake up the Beests who ended the half strongly. Wilcox linked with Reaper to slice the defence open and score under the posts. Jackal again converted. Half time score 14-3.

Strength in depth allowed the Beests to make changes for the second half. The forwards took the fight to Matlock and gave them a lesson in mauling. When the ball was moved, backs and forwards interlinked to make inroads towards the line. Again errors and decisions went against the Beests except for a Jackal penalty. Matlock had spells close to the Beest line but some excellent tidying up around the fringes allowed Hutch to move us downfield.

The game was killed off in the last twenty minutes. Matlock couldn’t find a VACCINE to stop the rampage. First S-bend glided over down the blind side to open his account. The Jackal off target with the kick. Hutch then pounced on a dropped ball and used his ball skills to dribble the ball over from 50 yards. The Jackal added the two. The Beests started to click and moves were MELLIFLUOUS. S-bend added his second with a nice break. The Jackal converted. The final try was well created by the forwards. Another excellent scrummage allowed the Buss to break and feed Robinson for an easy score. The Jackal converted to finish the game.

Like a foot long SUBWAY, we made hard work of it but we got there in the end!! More from the official Beest CORRESPONDENT next week.
