The beests escaped against Coalville 1sts, with a last minute try from Chief Beest Eddie Dell, and a jackal conversion. Earlier tries from the Reaper (6 in 4 games, and a try scorer every week so far) and The Leg end ( sorry legend) Wiggers, with some accurate Jackal kicking brought the Beests home ( but only just!)
The average age of the Beest back line at the end of the game was 32 years! whilst Coalvilles was around 20.......

Up there for thinking, down there for dancing.....

"Lucky to win"? The game lasts for 80 minutes, when you score your points doesn't matter. THEY WERE LUCKY THEY WERE NOT STAMPEDED ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE SERENGETI!

Win Some, Lose Some ‘Not this week thanks!’

Wildebeests 26 – 25 Coalville 1st XV

The short journey across the boarder to Coalville, Leicestershire provided the Beests next challenge. The team expected a tough ride playing against 1st team opposition.

The game started at a hectic pace in the sunshine. Both sides tried to get the upper hand and it was the home side that benefited. Simple errors put the Beest line under pressure. A poor Jackal clearance fell into the wingers’ hands, after a couple of phases Colaville had scored in the corner. This kicked the Beests right in the HAEMORRHOIDS and kick started them into action. Some clean ball mid-way through the half provided a platform for an attack. The midfield cut some awesome lines to fix the defence. Wigley TRANSMOGRIFIED into a gazelle to finish an excellent piece of attacking play. The Jackal missed the conversion. The tight five worked hard to stifle their opponents while the back row worked tirelessly around the fringes. The backs worked to create opportunities only to be stopped in their tracks by the whistle! Only a Jackal penalty added to the Beests score. Two further tries were conceded late in the half to leave the score at 8-15.

The Beest felt wounded but not out of it. This called for some ANTHROPOMORPHIC behaviour to redress the balance. Cogan was replaced after dislocating a KIDNEY STONE in the first half. The second half showed more promise but still many basic errors hampered the Beests progressing towards the try line until the try machine got the ball. A quick ruck allowed the forwards to release Reaper into the corner. The Jackal off target again. This brought the Beests within two points. A rare lapse in concentration allowed the home side to extend their lead through a converted try and a penalty. The Beests thought they’d scored after a cleaver Normski kick hit the post, only for Lane to be adjudged to knock on over the line. The home side were cruising and expecting the Beests to file for BANKRUPTCY. This only strengthened the Beests determination to get something from the game. A Jackal penalty brought the game closer. With ten minutes left another infringement gave the Jackal chance to reduce the deficit to 6 points. But his kicking boots must have been still in his bag. After trying to run the missed kick Coalville lost possession. Lane cut a great line to scream through a gap in midfield. Further penalties allowed the Beests to enter the 22. This time the Jackal slotted to reduce the deficit to 6 points with 5 minutes remaining. From the kick off the Beests upped the tempo to stampede down towards the line. For the first real time in the game the Beests showed their true class retaining possession. Some excellent play allowed captain Odell to score next to the posts. The Jackal added the conversion to give a 1-point lead. Coalville had run out of time. Like a DIRTY SANCHEZ we sneaked in under their noses.
