Thought I'd keep off the forum for a while, but have been browsing other websites (sad, I know ) including the forum on Nottingham's site. As well as a lot of concern from supporters about how the club is progressing (move to Lady Bay, playing matches at Meadow Lane, split club into two parts....) I thought the following, in response to a call for "abiding memories from Ireland Avenue", was amusing, with no less than 4 current or recent Derby players mentioned...

Any match with Wacko Jacko winding up the opposition front row and anyone else coming his way.
Any Hodgie kick at goal.
Tim Smith's drop goal after the ball fell over in the wind .
Any Guy Gregory line kick.
Beaky breaking his ankle in front of the clubhouse.
Selling the View from the other side.
Any RAF match.
Any Nottingham tap penalty with hilarious consequences.
The ball landing on Will's pint as he turned away to say what a good kick it was.
Walking to the ground for a RAF match into horizontal frozen snow.
Any number of times Reesy not being offside!!!!!
HQs final minute try against Barf to deny them the title.
The try of the century from Moseley.
Freeway's sprint to the line to score a try.
Gabs directing the forwards.
Oti scoring with 3 men to beat on the outside.
Rob Andrew missing ............... Arrgh.
Brian Moore trying a drop goal from touch in the same match out of desperation.
Sam Jack's monster drop goal in open play.
Ralph Knibb's conversion attempt.
Rusty's late, late, late, late try to keep us up.
Bradders.
Noggin chasing down a conversion at 70 odd nil against Newcastle in the 78th minute.
Harts and Clifton at centre.
The bar being full of internationals every match.
Any match in the promotion season.
Any long line out throw to Cookie.
Irish hanging around on the wing.
Alan Royer conning the ref into advancing a penalty 10m forward by kicking it himself and claiming the opposition did it.
Chris Gray's captaincy.
But most of all......
Beaky

Perhaps we ought to hear Ralph's side of the conversion kick mentioned!

Oh yes, this one was interesting too - no responses yet.....

Heard a rumour we are signing a player from Derby who used to play for us!! Surely it won't be Bradders???? The only other one that I know who is there is Tom Rolt and I thought he had to retire from injury......

Stu Bailey ?

Not sure who he is, someone has suggested to me that it may be 2nd row/back row called Harry but I'm afraid once again I don't know who that is either

Think Dan Moore has never let us down!!!!

Harry Roberts played 2nd row/no8 (I think ) for us a few years ago and looked pretty promising but then seemed to fade from the scene (exams etc perhaps?) and ended up with Bradders at Derby. Promising in Nat 3 is very different from making the grade in Nat 1 and a long way up from Midlands 2 East (or is it West?).
