Looks like they've pinched some of my words, but still a fair report:

"A pleasing first outing of the season for Doncaster Colts against Derby Colts. Playing with the wind in the first half, things looked good for Doncaster when we scored 3 tries in the first 10 minutes, the forwards worked well and the backs combined to put pressure on the home side. Sadly the conversions let us down on the day.

After the first quarter Doncaster mixed up the team to allow the coaches to play all the players (a few playing out of normal position). This allowed a spirited “don’t give up” Derby side chance to get back in the game.

In this next quarter Derby started to make good ground through forward drives and strong running in the backs. Despite this the Doncaster lads held out and no further tries were scored in the opening period

Derby’s heads stayed up though and the forwards were starting to gel in the loose and were they were in the game at 12 – 20.

Derby were able to keep the pressure on Doncaster in the last quarter and with the Doncaster side still playing all the players a change was made for the last 10 mins. This showed that Doncaster were close to and capable of scoring. In a loose ball Doncaster capitalised on the situation and went over the try line, only for the referee to spot a knock-on in the process. Have to say, I never saw it, but who would ever question a referee’s decision!!

The whistle went, with most players (and some coaches) not quite sure of the result. It was only a friendly, but all the players were happy with the end result

Doncaster would like to thank Derby for the hospitality and a well-spirited game that could have gone both way and a credit to both sides.

Tries by Oli Smith, Sam Bottomley, Burtie Bailey, Jacob Brady"
