| Well done today lads - 38-0 against some tough opposition. Thought that we have played better this year though and need to get back into more of a team game. Thought Tom was superb at No.8 and The Reaper had a good one too. Callan showed what a good player he is and gets better all round each game and it was nice to see Sam back at centre. Thought Young Corn had a good game at scrum half too. They will be looking for revenge in 3 weeks at our place - can't wait !!!!!!!! |

Good performance today guys against another tough side. Awful weather conditions and played on a postage stamp which didn't help our game. Thought the forwards were superb. Won alot of turnover ball by being at the breakdown first and used it well. Good linking play and some well earned tries. Nice to see 3 forwards on the scoresheet and yet another clean sheet. 152 points in the last four games and nil against - awesome. Well done. Training Wednesday 7.00pm. Melbourne paid us a few nice compliments in the club after - "This is our biggest game and we use you as a benchmark to see where we are" Still a way to go then !!!!!!!!!! |

Copy of the report from Melbourne website (unusually unbiased !!!)
In conditions that made the Battle of The Somme look like a picnic the lads fought very hard against a Derby team who, in the final analysis, were a little too good for them and ran out deserved 31-0 winners.
The scoreline does not quite do justice to the way the lads held up the opposition for long periods as well as enjoying a few periods of pressure on occasions. We went into the break two tries and a conversion down and Derby then confirmed their victory in the second half with a further three tries, two of which were converted.
In the end their superior pace in the backs and power in the rucks and mauls told as pressure turned eventually into points as it always eventually does. They are a good side and a much bigger club than us and we must therefore remember that when analysing the whole experience. There was not a million miles between us and so we must draw strength from that as we turn our attention to Chesterfield next week in the Cup.
Well done to Derby - they have a good side that will go far.

Spot on from Melbourne. Apart from Hinckley no other team has got as close to this team, and team they are, Derby did extremely well to shut Melbourne out.
