If anyone was in any doubt read this match report from Sandbach....

Under 15

Derby 66 - Sandbach 0

Sun 2 March 2008

We knew before the game that this would be a tough one but were not fully aware of the high level that Derby have achieved. They have a squad of circa 50 players from which they can select a strong team of similar ability. Their A team on sunday was full of big strong lads who were very skillful and knowledgeable - gone now is the myth in our squad that big lads cant't be fit or run with the ball! Derby were not short, of skill or size, in any department and were schooled into playing rugby at a level beyond their years - regularly getting into 8, 9 and 10 phases of play. They have achieved a level to which others can only aspire! We found out later that they have not been beaten for 4 years.
On the positive side, our scrummaging went well and was perhaps the only area of the game where we held our own. We did well as a team to be only 2 tries down after 20 minutes and some of our players showed guts and determination from start to finish. We played under constant pressure and unfortunately enhanced their score with some unforced errors however, from our squad of 26 players we managed to get all 21 available players onto the pitch. The game was played in a great spirit by both sides throughout and Derby were magnanimous in victory, well turned out after the game and truly a credit to youth rugby. It was no disgrace to lose to this side, even by such a margin.

A remarkable tribute from a good rugby team!!

Refereeeeee

ps Hinckley have beaten them and the squad size is 36 however....
