What a great result

Beests 22 Rugby Lions 0

Tries from 'the buss' (2) and lucas (2) plus 1 conversion (sorry!)

I vote Rob Lucas for winger of the season after his performance in those last 15 minutes

Awesome result followed by some good banter with the colts in the clubhouse.

By the way, hows your head C5W?

Also decided what i want/ need for xmas santa! Some new kicking boots because these ones have stopped working...

No doubt C5W will be seeking anaesthetic for his head as I write this post!!

I'll send the result in - hopefully we'll get a new league table in the week.

Here it is, believe i mentioned all who took to the field. Plus a special mention for Archer. Hope you like it Arch?

‘With danger on my mind I would stand in the line of Beests, I knew we could make it!!!’ (Never Forget – Take That)

Wildebeests 22 – 0 Rugby Crusaders

The first of 4 pre Christmas home encounters provided the Beests with an early present. With Rugby sitting in second in the NCA Midlands merit league, this game gave the Beests chance to take the spot their opponents held. In surprisingly mild conditions the Beests marshalled the plains of the Serengeti well to walk away convincing victors.

Playing with a slight wind advantage in the first half the Beests set about the challenge. The first 20 minutes saw both sides take it on up front. The tight five of Cormack, Wilcox, Roberts, Goodman and chief Beest Odell provided solid first phase ball. Early territorial gains were lost due to the referee’s interpretation of the breakdown. This went against the Beest IDEOLOGY of turnover ball and 2-away Barbara! This meant of Cox, West and Bussell were unable to provide their usual service of turnovers. This allowed Rugby to have more clean possession and attacking opportunities. Strong running in the centres was only met with ferocious defence. Eventually the Beests stampeded their authority on the game. A clean lineout allowed the pack to drive nearly 20 metres to cross the line. Up popped Dave ‘the Buss’ Bussell with the ball, not too sure about your celebration though. The Jackal nudged the conversion. Yet more penalties allowed Rugby the chance to get on the board but the kick drifted wide. A great midfield move allowed the Jackal to release Normski through centre field. The off load to the ever-youthful Wigley nearly yielded a try from our own half. From a resulting scrum, the pack handed Bussell his second of the day. The Jackal’s attempt was awful. Much of the half was scrappy with the Beests counter attacking from an onslaught of kicks. A Jackal penalty drifted just wide to leave it 12-0.

The departure of Normski brought Gandolfo on to the wing, leaving a POSER. Will he be fit for next week? The second half saw the crusaders have the wind advantage. This provided a stern test of the defensive qualities of the herd. Breaks off the fringes and in midfield failed to pierce the black wall of Beest defenders. Simon Rolfs and Dan Hutchinson provided our best attacking plays running some great lines to confuse the midfield. When Rugby had the ball many failed attempts to move the ball wide resulted in them turning the Beests towards their own line. On several occasions this resulted in the Beests having to clear from their own try line. Only in the final 20 minutes did the ball begin to stick. Beest rotation brought Mills Turner and McCartin in to furnace. Rugby failed again to get on the board with a missed penalty from centre field. Ratcliffe and Roberts led the charge up field with decisive breaks. The support and link play allowed the Beest to enjoy some time in their opponents half. The pack took the ball into the heart of Rugby 22, which released Rob Lucas to side step his way over the line. Yet again the Jackal off target. The SPHERE of influence within the team demanded another score finish the game. This came from some delightful play. Turner ran a kick hard into the defence on the half way line. Both forwards and backs kept the ball alive to release Lucas from the traps. His magical break down the wing left his winger grounded seeing MEGAPIXELS as he glided effortlessly across for his second of the day. Roberts proved it’s not just the Jackal who can’t kick with his conversion attempt. Within seconds the whistle blew and the Beests entered the festive season in high spirits.

This result is a great INDICATOR as to the strength of the Beests. A strong team ethic proved to be the difference between these two teams. Credit must go to all members of the herd for a strong defensive performance mixed with glimpses of attacking flair. Apologies to our great crowd for our performance. Come down next week and we’ll show you what we can really do. Lets hope it can be a JACKPOT REPEATER of a performance.

The Jackal (Beest Statistician)

SQUAD: Wigley, Lucas, Rolfs, Collier, Hutchinson, Burrows, Ratcliffe, Cormack, Wilcox, Odell, Roberts, Goodman, West, Cox, Bussell, Gandolfo, Mills, McCartin, Turner

Next weeks drink – Check the board on Tuesday!

The beests roar!

who can beat the rampaging herd? but with talisman collier down (following mauling from passing lion, apparently) can they maintain this level of performance.

judging by the aftermatch boat race , aeroplane and pirate ship , yes , nothing can stop them , Muuurgh

(but where's the reaper gone, there's a suggestion that he and colin cornfield are never seen in the same room ? - jekyll and hyde???)

Wingof fire:- Beesthood is not about 1 player, but a way of life, Akuna Matata, and the way to divine Beestiness involves navigating some rocky paths

Lovin' the reference PB - Can I come back to play with you guys? I don't like losing, and blue and white stripes don't suit me... I tried to instigate both 'Jackpot' and 'Jackpot Repeater', both got laughed off the paddock. Also, I tried to run 'hook', but I bounced the ball through my legs instead of giving it on the switch - I did laps for the rest of the night....

I just called to say I love MMUUURRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH 3:-O

No jackpot or jackpot repeater? What kind of establishment have you lowered yourself to Archer? i'd either keep quiet and hang my head in shame or try to escape before the magic is lost forever.
