I decided to e-mail Rugby World a while back with some info on Derby for their Midlands Clubs section. The article is in this month's issue, with mention of the 1sts (and Cogs in particular) and the Beests. Paul Teager has a copy if you cannot be bothered to buy it.

Looks better in the mag, but here it is (dated 30/12/05):

Hi there, thought I would submit a snippet about Derby RFC for Rugby World since we last had a mention soon after we moved to our new ground over 3 years ago:

Derby are pushing for promotion back to Midlands 1 after a fleeting visit last season, vying with South Leicester, Peterborough and Loughborough University for the top spot in the Midlands 2 East league. Last season’s problem of a lack of a reliable kicker has been solved with the arrival of Kiwi full-back Andrew Congalton, currently well ahead in the league kicking statistics and 3rd in the whole country according to Rugby Round-up. Derby also has strength in depth with their 2nd team, known as the Wildebeests, having only lost 6 games in 2 and a half seasons. Looking for stronger fixtures they joined the NCA Midlands 2nd Team League (a league designed for National League clubs but not well supported by Midlands NCA clubs) and are currently in second place with losses suffered only on long away trips to Cheltenham and Old Patesians.

Oldcorn, you have, probably accidentally, stumbled upon the 1sts problem: they don't have a name!
I mean UKD is ok for the sponsors, but not very inspiring in the changeing room.

THE BEEEEEEESTS conjures up something to be feared, even the name LITTLE BEEEESTS produces significant results

Why not go back to the Tigers?

Any suggestions?
