Reading the closing comments in the match report brought back memories of the last time Derby won the NLD Cup at Matlock. So, who can remember some of the Derby players? Here are a couple:
Campbell Wigley - a mere spring chicken at 30
Yours truly - not quite so young at 38, having rushed over from the NLD mini festival at Newark where Youngcorn, Alex Tizard, Michael Robertson, Richard Huddlestone, Callum Martin and Mo Gadsby (from the current Colts team)had just won the U8s tournament.

Happy Days

Other players anybody? Loomsy, were you playing, Alan Dickens was I think, Matt Bates maybe?

Jon Tizard, have I missed any U8s still playing for the Colts?

How about Nick O'Key and Sean Eley (who undoubtedly never through the line-out ball in straight all game).

I thought I'd missed you just after I hit the 'post' button!! Bloody hell, Sean was playing too, so I wasn't even the oldest on the pitch. Biscuit bones - yeah, I'd never have remembered that he had played. Can't have had Miles, Rocky and Tim all playing, one must have been on the bench (we did have benches didn't we?)

Matt Marshall is missing from that list Colin. Both Mo and Callum joined the following year.

That team went the whole season with a 100% record, something not even the awesome littlebeeests have been able to do.

The 95/96 playing record was

P 27 W 27 For 955 (191 tries) Against 230 (46 tries)

a truly stunning season in which they also won festivals at Wolverhampton and Derby.

If you want to know the try scorers just ask!!

I played about 3 minutes of that game (blood replacement for Mick Thompson).

Greg Hill at Fullback and nobody passed him the ball. Loomesy was on holiday, he booked the holiday as he assumed Derby would be knocked out before the final!!
