I take no high ground, sorry you think that. I'm just trying to support a bit of debate (and banter - and believe me, if i ever went near a scrum that doesn't feed through the second rows legs i'd get bent in two!)
I agree with Mr Gas, those players he has mentioned have all been excellent, i think in the case of Fitchy and Elliot they have been unfortunate as the players in their positions in the first team have also been playing well.

nay probs good to see most of us are singing from the same hymn sheet.
however, slightly concerned about your knowledge of the game. how would feeding stop you getting bent. never mind lets not dwell on any particular aspect, or lack of it. good to see there is suport for the players and staff at the club and nice if we can keep it supportive.

Phew! All got a bit serious for a minute. I think we should remember that the club is in good health generally, and that everyone's enjoying their rugby. Well, apart from me, I'm off! (That's a joke, for all those who don't understand banter...)
I just called to say I love MMUUURRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH 3:-O |

NG...no denying that the Beests is a hot bed of talent. The fact that they won the NCA last year & will have a top 3? finish this season is proof of the club's strength in depth & a terrific tribute to each player in that side. I dont think you ever had a settled side. I wouls also congratulate you on a huge morale boosting effort giving the side focus! Without a decent Beests side this club will not have a future at 1st team level! Of this year's 1st team squad i think the following all spent their educational period in the Beests last season; Kenty, JT,Pete, Ben, Sparkes, Robbo,Fitch, Lucas, Rolfs, G,PB, Elliot has never been anything less than 1st team squad to be fair & i believe is immensly brave to pull on a pair of boots again after his horrific injury (particularly when he was pulled down at an awkward angle on Saturday) The following have also played 1's Maddog, Eldon, IT,Doddsy,Rod, Ryan, Owen & Hutch. Some may or may not have deserved more chances but that is the beauty of debate, opinion & freedom of speech lol! What i would say is that we work with the players & combinations we have & players play with injuries which many supporters wouldnt even know about - those that have played the game will understand the type of pain barrier 99% of players will endure to play for their side. We all wish - players & coaches that we could wave a magic wand & bring in certain players for certain positions if it seems fit but unfortunately we are not in the Premiership & players have to be developed (sometimes harshly in a "sink or swim" policy!) This will not always be successful in the immediate term but will hopefully prove fruitful in the long term. Whatever certain peoples opinions are of players performances i will vouch that there is not one player who has left any Derby dressing room at any level, intent on a bad game. Anyone who believes that of a rugby player does not understand the mentality, honour & bravery of these players & i would suggest they find an alternative sport! Sorry to get a bit serious HB! |

Well said everyone. I think the fact the club puts 4 sides out week in week out is a testament to good things happening at the club, pat on the back for all involved!
Manager - i never bend my back in the scrums i pack down into, the beauty of feeding! We tend to bend at the neck and stand still!
Out of interest what injury did Elliot sustain?
Legaulois can you pm me your e-mail address? I don't have enough posts to PM anyone! |

Interesting debate chaps please dont lose sight that we are successful and that generates great expectation which can become a burden especially on younger shoulders. The experiences of this season will help those guys in the future. We have a lot of good young players as mentioned plus more in the colts(dare I mention Glover in a positive manner!...........okay maybe not)even may have Gerry's wish in the Vets impersonating a 9! or at least a good old tight head in master B........lets look forward. By the way the last time we finished 4th I think we were promoted the following season.

Actually I would like to thank NG on behalf of a number of Colts who have played for the Beests this season and represented the Beests, the Club, the Colts and themselves extremely well. Congratulations go to Sanjay, Kyle, Simmo, Dan B, Hobbs and Jordan (Bluetooth). The platform and future of any successful club is the continuous development of the youngsters coming through the ranks combined with the seniors and talent from outside the club. The Colts who have played senior rugby this season have developed enormously as rugby players and young men. And in Glovers case have developed in waist line!! (Macca I couldn't help myself!) I feel sure the lads will continue to be exposed to senior rugby and to develope thier game. I would like to thank everyone in the senior squads and management who have helped and supported them in training, in the games and in tha bar!!
Anyway that now concludes my serious content.....does anyone have a contact for the Vets? I feel sure they could benefit from the extraordinary talents of a Bradford Northern colt. Come on the Bulls! By the way is it true that Andy Ireland has been promoted to the 1st's? Premiership here we come! |

Time for me to join in....
'occasionally 6 with the Colts' - I think you'll find the Colts have played about the same number of games as the first team with only about 5 on a Sunday. Would have been more but some games have been cancelled due to too many playing for NLD U20s, or having to supply too many to the Beests, e.g. last week.
In a time when many other clubs are struggling to field 2 or 3 teams we should be delighted that we are expanding. We are even thinking of running 2 Vets teams next year! I have had around 6 - 8 e-mails this year from players wanting to join and had a call just today from a player currently playing in Midlands 1 who is interested in joining. So we can't be doing that bad a job!!
RLD, your congratulations to Colts who have played in the Beests should go wider than those you mention. There are no less than 15 current Colts players (and that does not include Nick Coombes or Harry Elliott who are both Colts qualified) that have played in the Beests this year. I was particularly pleased last year for the number to have been around 8 (the main reason why I classed last season as a success for the Colts), this year even more successful on that basis, especially with Mr. Glover's elevation to the 1st team. (Should have been 2 elevated to the first team though!!!) |

Rugby League Dad - good to have a fellow Bradford Northern supporter on here! You should speak to Kenty (Mr Kent Snr that is) as he is a big Bradford fan.
If you are interested in taking in some Midland rugby league this summer Derby City Rugby League play their home games at the Asterdale club in Spondon. We trian on both Tiesdays and Thrusdays and invite any ages and abilities to come along - even if there is no intention to paly we would welcome the numbers down.
On a serious note again I do agree it is some achievment to have so many players involved in the game along with the supporters and back room staff the numers invloved in rugby in the city must be growing year on year. |

Joey J, thanks for the invite, let me know your email address and I can get the information from you.
Colin, I was going to reply to your note above last night but when I went into the home office one of the children had left MTV on and I was distracted by the Girls Aloud 'v' Sugar Babes video....compelling viewing!
In my praise for this years Colts who have made the 2nds and the Dev's I could only comment on the lads that I know and they are the one's who have played with my lad, Jordan, since the U7's at Keddie Road. I did mention Simmo as I know his Dad from supporting the Colts this season. I agree with your comment entirely with regards to previous Colts who have been elevated to the senior sides but I dont know who these lads are, therefore I was not being selective in anyway. You know from my touchline ranting and running up and down every Saturday/Sunday that I am the Colts biggest supporter and would love to see all of them getting senior side exposure (playing that is not Kenty naked!)
When you stated and I quote "Should have been 2 elevated to the first team though!!!" did you mean Andy Ireland? |
