Dont get too carried away yet. I suggest you ask the committee what resources & back up he will get!
Lets face it without players or the ability to attract players it wouldnt matter if Clive Woodward was appointed

I just caught something on radio Derby on Wednesday about an interview with Alan. Didn't catch when but maybe on Thursday's sports program between 6 and 7.

Why ask the committee?
With attitudes like that we're doomed already.
Let's hope that the majority of players are going to hit the new season positive and prepared, and ready to give 100%
It's commitment that will be the key, not committee.

How about Committeement?

Sorry, but without only 7s to play between now and August, my banter is going to be awful.

He plays on the left, he plays on the ri-i-ight, that boy Archer makes Matlock look sh!te

Sounds like a good concept to me
Remember - the players can do it without the committee, but the committee can't do it without the players.

Dead Meat..nothing wrong with the players nor has there ever been...but with the number apparently leaving who is going to replace them? Lets face it the league gets a lot stronger next season & we only just avoided relegation this season.

Maybe we should look at where the new coach started as the first target for new players?

Why does the league get a lot stronger next season? I thought we were in the same one? People do move on, like coaches, they come and go, no big deal. There's still some heart about:

Ryan Milton
S-bend/Loius Ganadalfo
Simon Rolfs
Maddog/Mikey Robinson
Wolverine
Brooksy/Tom Good
Headlights/Snowy/The Jackal
Dodsy
Matt Erwin
Coombsy
Joe "The Neck" Morgan
Eldon
Sparksy
Adam Wilson
No Frills
Halibeest
Glover
Jody
Ben Smart
Fitch
Sherrif
Mr Beest
Mr Colt
Etc
Etc

A touch of "the glass half-emties" I fear. In reality we were 5 wins and 11 points awy from the relegation zone!!

Hands Up!

I'd just like to add to this thread the self-assertion that I'm awesome (as my display at 10 against Matlock 2s at home proved), and that any team built around me will have some form of success. I'm not saying what form, just some (maybe just at 7s).

In response to DM, I would say we are looking to the Colts / Juniors, we always have done and will continue to! Take the team for the Derbyshire Cup Final - it included 2 players currently of Colts age, Adam Glover and Stef Greenhalgh. Plus 2 more have played several 1st team games this season but missed the Cup Final (Tom Good and Tom Swainston). The first team also contains several others who have come through from the junior / Colts set-up (Rob Lucas, Phil Maddocks, Rich Sparkes, Craig Hughes, Martin Kent and many moons ago Jody Else and Paul McCartin).

I would predict that there will be at least 2 more recent Colts playing in the 1st team next year (not going to say who though!), but of course we need some older heads in there too and we are looking to top up the squad from outside as well. Plus, of course, there will be Halifaxbeest..... enough to make my glass at least half full!!

Looking good - it certainly seems we have more glasses half-full than we do half-empty, which is what we need ...
