‘Deck the halls with horns and holly,
Beesty beesty beest the mighty BEEST!!!’

Wildebeests 55 – 7 Bromsgrove

Aint no stopping us now were on the move!! The haggis once again did a good impression as chief Beest to lead the stampede away at Bromsgrove. In near perfect conditions the reduced herd set about the task ahead, a performance worthy of the Beests. Even with a couple of changes to the side, the team produced some exhilarating stuff at times.

The Jackal opened the scoring with a neatly taken drop goal after some great driving play from the pack. A well-worked move (Barbara!!) allowed the Beests to interplay from their own half and get deep into the opposition territory. The Jackal this time crossing the line to finish a team try!!! Hutchinson unlucky with the nudge. The big Bromsgrove pack then tried to work the ball DEEEEep in to Beest half. Only massive DEEEEfence and DEEEElightful tackling prevented the home team from scoring. The spirit within the team allowed ball to be played from most areas of the paddock (just like the Serengeti back home!?!?) The mighty Cox created the next try after popping up in the centre to make an incisive break. He evaded all bar the full back with his gas before off loading to Philis Robinson to score under the posts. Hutch added the nudge. Many other chances went begging as Williams, Hutchinson and Ratcliffe created space for our ever-scoring wingers. Only for them to be halted short of the line!! Philis added another score just before the break when ‘big man’ West broke off the back of the scrum. Hutch again DEEEEstroyed the opposition with the conversion. Half time 22-0.

The second forty saw the Beests play some exhibition rugby mixed with the odd lashing of drivel. Ratcliffe placed some DEEEElightful centre field kicks into the corner. The ‘hitman’ Erwin never missed his jumpers all day. Enter next the ‘lord of the wings’ Gandolfo. Not to be out shone he ran in a measly 40 metres for his first score. Hutch with the nudge. Things started to click and both forwards and backs ran their opponents around. Another great play released Luey again to run in his second of the day. Followed by a Hutch nudge. Debutant Williams then showed how to carve the DEEEEfence apart. A great line out ball from Mills released quick ball for Gareth to slice cleanly through the Bromsgrove players to score. Robinson added the nudge. A brief spell of Bromsgrove pressure brought their only reward of the half. A forward dominated try saw them finally break the Beest line. Conversion scored. Luey Gandolfo completed another hat-trick performance with a short gallop around his winger making Robinson’s nudge the easiest of the day. Rob ‘Lomu’ Lucas completed the match in style with a break worthy of a scrum half. He stepped the winger and shimmied (truffle shuffle???) his way past the full back to swan dive over the line. Hutch off target with the nudge. Final score 55-7.

The Flying Haggis asked for a performance, and for the majority of the day, that’s what he got. Next week sees the final home game of the year. Lets put an 80-minute Christmas show together for all our Beest fans!!!!!!

Jackal, this is by far the best match report for a long time... The "Truffle shuffle" is inspired, and to get our old mate Barbara in is good skillage....

Keep up the good work
