Colts had a similar convincing victory - er well 17 - 15 then, coming back from 15 - 0 down. Still victory it was and a good game of rugby. Report to follow...

Colts also put Burton to the sword. They gave them a 15 point lead. Just to see how good we are and then slowly took them apart. 2 tries to George, 2 conversions and a penalty to Dan. 17 15 and we were worth it.

Nice to see the backs PASS the ball. Read the report.

Got this Colts report from Burton's website. Obviously a report mentions their own side most, but what about all the pressure Derby put on either side of half time. The tries were hardly breakaways. What do you think C5W? (Unfortunately, could not find a report on the Beests' game - I wonder why!!)

"Travelling to play Derby the Burton side always knew that a battle was on and so this game turned out to be in an epic first half only sheer brilliance was going to break the Derby defence and it was left to Alistair Eastwood to do just that as he stormed over in the corner after a spectacular run. This gave Burton a lead of 5 points and more breath taking total rugby was to follow for the rest of the first half, but it was through the efforts of Tom Atherton that Burton added to their lead as he dived into the corner for a second try. Despite the wide angle a superb kick by Ian Cartwright sailed through the posts to add the extra points and put Burton 12 points clear.

After the break the home side scored two breakaway tries both being converted giving them a 14-12 lead, but Cartwright soon put Burton back in the lead with a well-struck penalty goal. But the joy and expectancy of a win was soon swiped from Burton’s grasps as a last minute penalty from Derby gave them a winning 17-15 score"

Not quite the game I saw, although I do like the idea of Burton needing "sheer brilliance" to break our defence. Long may we keep up those standards.

Have to say not sure what game the burton lot were watching but it wasn't the one i played in. Not sure about playing second row either which i why i managed to weasel my way back to the open spaces of flanker, i dont want to end up looking like joe mills and eldon atherton! but i did think we played well and was impressed that we didnt panic when behind or infront. Also the backs managed to put some moves together proving it might be worth the forwards giving them the ball more than once a game?

Any more shocking tactical decisions at penalties C5W and you'll definitely be back in the engine room!!

Burton do have a tendency to exaggerate their efforts, they must have been reading Norm's efforts from last year!
